
Dr. Werner Breuers was born in Moenchengladbach, Germany on December 9, 1958. He studied Chemistry at Aachen Technical University, obtaining a doctorate in science. He began his career in 1989 as a chemist in the Research and Development Division of Hoechst AG in Frankfurt.
After holding a number of managerial positions at Hoechst AG, in 1999 Breuers became Vice President of Licensing & Catalysts of the Polyethylene Manufacturer Elenac GmbH in Kehl, Germany. One year later, Elenac GmbH became part of Basell Group. As a member of the Basell management team he was Head of the Global Technology Business Division based in Milan, Italy, and was subsequently President of Basell Polyolefins Europe based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
On May 14, 2007, Breuers was appointed to the Board of Management of LANXESS AG. His responsibilities and strategic areas of operations include the business segments Performance Polymers and Advanced Intermediates and the Procurement, Research & Development and Industrial & Environmental Affairs Group Functions.
Breuers is married and has two children.
