LANXESS AG has had its own EU Liaison Office at the heart of the EU capital Brussels since February 1, 2011. The office is very close to the Berlaymont Building, the headquarters of the European Commission, and is only a few minutes away from the European Council and the European Parliament.
LANXESS's EU representation acts as the company's ambassador on all issues toward EU officials, members of the European Parliament (MEPs), associations and representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The goal in all relations is frank and constructive dialogue.
LANXESS accompanies all legislative initiatives at European level that have significance for the company and is in constant contact with the decision-makers at EU institutions. Through a continuous and trusting exchange, LANXESS can directly bring its own experiences and standpoints to the political table. As a company in the strongly regulated chemical sector, direct contact to EU politicians is of central importance to LANXESS. Already today, up to 70 percent of all national laws originate in Brussels.
In its day-to-day work, LANXESS's EU Liaison Office in Brussels monitors not only legislative processes but also developments in politics. Regular meetings and background discussions with representatives from all camps and institutions allow LANXESS to respond early to political challenges. In addition, the office supports and promotes regular contact between the Chairman of the Board of Management and other members of the Board with high-ranking representatives of the European Commission and MEPs.
