Establishing trust in the long term

LANXESS joined the UN Global Compact

LANXESS joined the United Nations Global Compact in July 2011. The Global Compact is the world's biggest and most rapidly growing initiative for corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The Global Compact initiative was launched in 2000 by the then UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. With its established principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption, the pact now numbers more than 9,000 participants (corporate and other stakeholders) from over 135 nations. More than 150 German companies, including 23 DAX companies and numerous small to mid-sized businesses, are participants in this global CSR platform.

Millennium development goals

Responsible Care® safeguards the company’s future

In signing the 2014 edition of the Responsible Care Global Charter in August 2014, LANXESS renewed its commitment to the vision and ethics of the initiative. LANXESS endorses Responsible Care since 2006, being a signatory of the charter of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA).

Responsible Care® is the global chemical industry's environmental, health and safety initiative for continuous improvement in performance. This ethic based commitment to sustainability goes beyond legislative and regulatory compliance and beyond earlier initiatives for the safe use of chemical products.  Transparency and increased dialogue with the public are among the goals of the of the Responsible Care® Global Charter.

Implementing Responsible Care®

For LANXESS, applying the Responsible Care® Global Charter to its everyday business means working continuously to improve its own processes and services in terms of environmental and climate protection, health, safety and quality. LANXESS has integrated the obligations of the charter into its corporate policy by implementing its policy guidelines for global quality, safety, climate protection and environmental management. This is based on the conviction that the company’s future can only be safeguarded by acting responsibly.

Joint procurement sustainable audits

LANXESS, in cooperation with five other international chemicals companies, founded the Together for Sustainability (TfS) initiative in 2012. We  strive for a sustainable development and support the principles of the  United Nations Global Compact and Responsible Care, taking responsibility for our own operations and in the sphere of our influence for our supply chains to support adherence to existing regulations and to respond to the needs and expectations of our stakeholders.
