LANXESS equips elementary schools at its sites all over the world with specially devised chemistry kits for the third and fourth grades.
Just a few key ingredients are needed to make lessons exciting – inquisitive children and teachers working with the right materials. Children are curious by nature, so the chemistry kits teachers receive are the perfect tool for running lively and attractive classes. Experiments awaken the fascination with natural sciences inherent to children of elementary school age.
The experiment kit is meant for use by the whole class under the supervision of the teacher. It contains test setups for conducting basic experiments and research in elementary school chemistry. The experiments, designed by LANXESS in cooperation with the Department of Teaching and Didactics of Chemistry at the Technical University of Dortmund, are completely safe and focus primarily on the solubility of substances in water. The work materials and experiments are tailored to the needs, knowledge and abilities of boys and girls at elementary school age and meet the requirements of the official curricula of the German Federal states.
The instruction manual was developed by the Department of Teaching and Didactics of Chemistry at the Technical University of Dortmundl. The contents of the kit were prepared by the internationally known educational publisher “Cornelsen Experimenta.” The kit consists of an experiment case and a box with additional materials. It is suitable for a variety of teaching methods (independent station-based learning, group work, etc.) and can also be used in normal classrooms.
“Lanny explores the world” – teaching material for elementary schools
Tailored LANXESS teaching materials for general studies at elementary schools are compiled in a complementary folder for use alongside the experiment kit.
A basic understanding of mobility, globalization, urbanization and water is conveyed while the children have fun tackling the worksheets. The content is based on the official curricula for teaching general studies in German elementary schools. The tasks are explained using the experiences of the two comic-strip characters “Lanny” the LANXESS bullock and “Professor Findig.” LANXESS produced this teaching material in collaboration with German experts who had more than 25 years’ experience in writing and producing educational media.
