K2013 fair in Dusseldorf. The Highlights. (October 2013)
The K is the world's largest trade fair for plastics and rubber and attracts more than 3,000 exhibitors. LANXESS presented innovative lightweight design, technological innovations, service offers and many rubber applications that were combined in the motto "Technology @ work". Highlights definitely were a real Harley-Davidson and a huge boat which contain our materials. LANXESS TV visited the booth in Duesseldorf and interviewed our experts there. The result can be seen in our latest LANXESS TV video clip.
Inauguration of the LANXESS Tower (September 3, 2013)
The specialty chemicals group inaugurated officially its new Headquarters in Cologne on September 3. Guests of honor have been the minister for economic affairs of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia Garrelt Duin, the minister of finance of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the mayor of Cologne Jürgen Roters.
First plant in Russia (July 2013)
LANXESS officially opened its first production facility in Russia. At the new plant in Lipetsk, LANXESS subsidiary Rhein Chemie will produce its globally successful Rhenogran product line for the automotive and tire industries in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
"A plant is born": Singapore Butyl Rubber Opening (June 2013)

3,500 tons of steel (June 2013)
3,500 tons of steel ..... 350 kilometers of cables ...... and around 80 kilometers of piping – these are impressive figures characterizing one of the most important milestones in the history of LANXESS. Over a period of approximately two years, more than 2,500 construction workers working closely with LANXESS experts built the biggest and most state-of-the-art butyl rubber facility in Asia.
Young Euro Classic Orchestra in Brazil (May 2013)
LANXESS supports LANXESS Young Euro Classic concerts in Brazil: Culture is key for good relations between two countries. This is one of the main messages of the year "Germany + Brazil 2013-2014". LANXESS supported a series of concerts on that occasion. And German President Joachim Gauck attended the concert!
Seven Letters for Cologne (May 2013)
They have a length of 8.7 and a hight of 2.5 metres. Together the letters widely visible spell LANXESS on the new headquarters in Cologne and mark a milestone in the upcoming move. Some 7.500 LED lights will illuminate the letters in the future. See a video clip about the installation of the letters.
Geleen HQ opening: Our home is our castle (April 2013)
LANXESS officially opened solemnly the new headquarters of the business unit Keltan Elastomers in the Netherlands. This business unit is currently present in nine locations on four continents. Some 700 employees, including 270 here at the Chemelot Campus in Geleen, are working as an international team to promote the business unit's continued global success.
LANXESS confirms its cultural engagement in Japan
LANXESS extends its support to the Ozawa International Chamber Music Academy for another three years. The specialty chemicals company announced its continuing commitment at a press conference in Tokyo. The OICMA champions young talents with excellence and innovation and gives precious young musicians a great opportunity to learn and experience. Seiji Ozawa is one of the most famous conductors of Japan.

Sustainable growth in India’s tire and automotive industry
About 300 attendees from industry, science, associations and government participated at the second LANXESS Rubber Day. Prominent experts spoke in presentations and panels on the future of green mobility, sustainable technologies and road safty in India. The Rubber Day India took place in Mumbai, at 21. of January, followed by the India Rubber Expo, sponsored by LANXESS.
Waste water post treatment plant, Nagda (December 2012)
The new ‘Waste water post treatment plant’ at the LANXESS site in Nagda will treat the discharge from the existing Effluents Treatment Plant (ETP) in a manner that virtually no liquid effluents are discharged from the site. More importantly, the treated water recovered can be used for the production processes and even as boiler feed, which will bridge the gap in availability of water during the summer months.
Scientific symposium in Moscow (November 2012)
Under the motto “Chemistry – Shaping the Future”, specialty chemicals company LANXESS and the Russian Academy of Science has hold a high-profile conference with scientists from both countries. The focus of the scientific exchange of ideas is on chemical industry approaches as the key means to solve the global challenges of our time. The symposium was part of Germany Year in Russia 2012/13.
Rubber Day Brazil (October 2012)
Around 250 participants from the worlds of business, politics and science took up LANXESS's invitation to attend Rubber Day in Rio de Janeiro to find out more about synthetic high-performance rubber and green mobility. – Accounting for 10 percent of its global business, Brazil is an important market for LANXESS. The specialty chemicals company currently operates five production sites there. Following on from the Rubber Day LANXESS celebrated the 50th anniversary of South America's largest site for synthetic rubber in Duque de Caxias together with employees and politicians – including the Lord Mayor of Cologne.
The new generation of scientists (October 2012)
Supporting the scientists of the future: LANXESS has broadened the scope of the education initiative and is donating cases to carry out chemical experiments. They will be distributet Germany-wide to all schools near LANXESS sites. All in all 1,000 cases have been purchased by LANXESS for donation.
Singapore: construction works for new plant have started (September 2012)
LANXESS has broken ground for its new neodymium-based performance butadiene rubber (Nd-PBR) plant in Singapore today. The specialty chemicals company is investing roughly EUR 200 million in a 140,000 metric tons per annum facility on Jurong Island. The facility will be the largest of its kind globally and will serve the growing market for “Green Tires”, especially in Asia.
New plant for Nd-PBR rubber (September 2012)
On Jurong Island, the center of Singapore's chemical industry, LANXESS is building the world's biggest production facility for neodymium-based performance butadiene rubber, or Nd-PBR for short. Nd-PBR is used in the tread and sidewalls of green tires. It reduces the rolling resistance of tires, improving their fuel efficiency. The new plant is scheduled to come on stream in the first half of 2015 and will have an annual capacity of 140,000 metric tons.
The new fuel-saving app by LANXESS (September 2012)
In November 2012, a new labeling regulation will be introduced for car tires throughout Europe. With information on three key aspects of tire performance the label will provide consumers with greater transparency and guidance. Using the fuel-saving app from LANXESS, consumers can calculate for themselves, in only a few intuitive steps, on a tablet or a smartphone that it really is possible to make considerable fuel savings with the right sort of tires.

LANXESS is strengthening its Zwijndrecht site (May 2012)
LANXESS is strengthening its butyl rubber plant in Zwijndrecht, Belgium. The company has significantly invested to expand the production capacity of the existing plant and to build two new pilot plants for the development of production technology for butyl rubber.
Important milestone for second biggest single investment (March 2012)
An celebratory event in Singapore: LANXESS CEO Dr. Axel C. Heitmann announced the signing of long-term supply agreements for the planned facility for Nd-PBR rubber on Jurong Island. With the Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore and the TP utilities LANXESS found important partners for the world’s largest Nd-PBR plant. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for September 11 this year.
LANXESS at Plastindia (February 2012)
For the first time the specialty chemicals company participated in the international plastics fair in New Delhi, where it presented its latest products and technologies. - Shortly beforehand LANXESS had officially inaugurated a new facility for manufacturing high-tech plastics at its site in Jhagadia.

More than 350 representatives of the Latin-American automobile industry took up the invitation from LANXESS to the first Automotive Day in Brasil. Together with experts from LANXESS they discussed the challenges and concepts of the future mobility.
Open House Day (September 2011)
Some 40,000 visitors took advantage of the Open House Day to take a look behind the scenes of LANXESS and Chempark at the Lower Rhine sites in Leverkusen, Dormagen and Krefeld among others. Alongside various site tours the specialty chemicals company offered its guests vivid exhibits across its presentation areas on subjects such as rubber, high-tech plastics and water.
LANXESS strengthens its Bitterfeld site (September 2011)
Together with the State Premier of Sachsen-Anhalt Reiner Haseloff, LANXESS opened its new plant for membrane technology. The specialty chemicals group already produces Lewatit ion exchange resins in Bitterfeld. With these two product lines, LANXESS will be a key single-source supplier in the strategic business of water treatment. The total investment amounts to around 30 million euros. In the long term, some 200 new jobs will be created at the site.
A heart for glass fibres: Investments in Antwerp (September 2011)
Plastics are one of the most important materials of the 21. century. The will help to build the mega cities of tomorrow and will revolutionize car manufacturing by making automobiles lighter and safer. This is why LANXESS has declared 2011 the "Year of High-tech Plastics" and invests a further EUR 15 million at its site in Antwerp, Belgium. This is no coincidence: Antwerp is the heart of the production of glas fibres - an important intermediate for the manufacturing of plastics.
Music for the German-Indian friendship (June 2011)
More than 50 young musicians from Germany and India of the Young Euro Classic Orchestra, sponsored by LANXESS had a n exceptional gig on May 31st in New Dehli. Guests of honor at the concert included Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, India’s Parliamentary Speaker Meira Kumar and a delegation including LANXESS’s CEO Axel Heitmann. They met to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of India and the Federal Republic of Germany. This was the kick-off event for joint celebrations organized under the tagline “Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities”.
Synthetic rubber from renewable raw materials (May 2011)
Synthetic rubber from renewable raw materials: Working with experts from U.S. bio raw material manufacturer Gevo, specialty chemicals company LANXESS has achieved this coup. The basis for this is currently corn in animal feed – but in the future it will also be possible to use the cellulose-containing parts of plants as well. How does this work? The starch in the corn kernels is split off, and among the products produced is sugar. Special microorganisms turn these sugar molecules into isobutanol. A dehydration process specially developed by LANXESS then generates isobutene, the starting product for butyl rubber. This particularly airtight material is used among other applications as an inner liner in tires.
Heavy load for LANXESS (March 2011)
It’s the night of March 11, 2011. A heavy load is on its way to the Chempark Krefeld-Uerdingen site. The cargo – the absorber for the new formaldehyde plant of specialty chemicals company LANXESS. The absorber is 37 meters long, weighs 30 metric tons and is on a specially designed flatbed truck. Specialists spent six months preparing the move.
LANXESS expands education initiative (March 2011)
LANXESS is to support two high schools at its Brunsbüttel site in north Germany with EUR 20,000 each. This funding is designed to deliver a lasting improvement in science teaching at the schools. As a sign of its commitment to the Brunsbüttel site, LANXESS is also sponsoring the city’s 725th anniversary celebrations.
First production plant for high-tech plastics in USA (March 2011)
LANXESS broke ground on the first compounding facility for high-tech plastics in the United States. Additionally, LANXESS and U.S. chemical company DuPont will double the capacity of their joint compounding facility in Hamm-Uentrop, Germany. The capacity expansions reflect the growing demand for high-tech plastics being driven above all by rising car production and the trend towards lighter automobiles.
LANXESS Kick-Off 2011 (January 2011)
Round about 200 representatives from politics, business and the media came to the LANXESS Kick-Off 2011 event held on January 20th the Academy of the Arts in Berlin. Guest of honor was the Federal Minister of Family Affairs and Youth Kristina Schröder. At the same day, LANXESS opened its new office in the German capital.
