LANXESS hosted the first-ever “LANXESS Rubber Day” in India on December 3, 2010 in New Delhi. The event theme was “Driving growth and delivering safety.” LANXESS Rubber Day in India was the one-day conference addressing the growth trends in the rubber industry in India. Topics for discussion included emerging trends, policy issues, contributions to Indian growth, and other issues connected with the regional market. This is a high-level forum for experts from the worlds of industry, government, consulting and academia. 

About 200 high-ranking guests from economy, science, politics as well as customers of LANXESS AG accepted the invitation to the third LANXESS Rubber Day this year, that took place on December 3, 2010. The theme of the event that was staged in New Delhi was „Driving growth and delivering safety“. With several presentations and panel discussions LANXESS offered a platform to explore the future of rubber and of the rubber industry in India.

LANXESS launched with a kickoff-event in China a series of international Rubber Days. The conferences with customers, politicians, experts and media are a platform for demonstrating the technology expertise and the outstanding role of LANXESS in the manufacture of high-performance rubber products.

LANXESS celebrates World Rubber Day (September 2009)

"Happy Birthday, Synthetic Rubber": The 100-year-anniversary of synthetic rubber was celebrated very solemny: A scientific colloquium was held in the City of Cologne, Germany, on September 12 that was visited by around 400 guests from the worlds of economy, science and politics. Synthetic rubber: One hundred years of innovation (September 2009)

One hundred years after its invention by the chemist Fritz Hofmann, synthetic rubber is an elastomer that has long since established itself as a high-performance, high-tech material that is ideal for a whole range of forward-looking technologies. Synthetic Rubber for high-performance products (May 2009)

LANXESS is one of the largest manufacturers of synthetic rubber in the world. As the heir to this invention and with its 100 years of experience that lay the foundation for today’s know-how, LANXESS is still developing innovative special-purpose rubbers. As a technology leader, the company is advancing the development of the rubber industry. The specialty chemicals group currently produces several hundred different grades of synthetic rubber. These form the basis for a large number of high-performance products.

In 1909, chemist Fritz Hofmann invented synthetic rubber at the “Farbenfabriken,” or “dyestuffs factory,” in what is now Wuppertal – one of the places where LANXESS has its roots. This material has become indispensable in the modern world. It ensures mobility and safety through its use in cars, aircraft and ships, for example. As a technology leader, LANXESS is advancing the development of the rubber industry with its innovations.

It’s early in the morning when “Mr. Azman” starts work. And although the sun is only just rising, it is already so hot that his shirt is sticking to his body. Mr. Azman works for the Malaysian Rubber Board, an organization that is considered to be a world leader in natural rubber.

Charles Goodyear and the invention of vulcanization (March 2009)

If there is one person whose name is inextricably linked with rubber, it is American Charles Goodyear.  In 1844, he received patent number 3633 from the United States for his "metallic gum elastic composition," known today worldwide as vulcanization.

The rubber seed thief – Sir Henry Wickham (February 2009)

Until the late 19th century, rubber trees grew exclusively in South America. Export of seeds and seedlings was strictly forbidden, and the penalty for smuggling was death. In 1876, the adventurer Henry Wickham was tasked with the smuggling mission, to take thousands of rubber seeds to the British colonies in south-east Asia, with the aim of establishing plantations there.
