High-ranking visit to the LANXESS Tower (May 2012)
NRW Finance Minister Norbert Walter-Borjans today toured the new LANXESS Tower and saw for himself how construction work was proceeding. Walter-Borjans had already been involved in this project to set up the new LANXESS site as Director of the Department for Economic Development in Cologne.
New plant in Uerdingen (April 2012)
LANXESS inaugurated its new formalin plant at the Krefeld-Uerdingen site. A total of around 18 million euros was invested. This way, 150.000 tons of high-grade formalin can be manufacturated here annually in an environmentally compatible and energy-efficient process.- Formalin is an important precursor for trimethylolpropane, or TMP for short, a substance used in numerous products in the automotive, furniture, construction and other industries.
Minister praises LARA (April 2012)
North Rhine-Westphalia’s Environment Minister Johannes Remmel visited as part of his climate protection tour the nitrous oxide reduction facility at the Krefeld-Uerdingen site. Through its commitment to climate protection LANXESS is assuming responsibility and showing that climate protection and competitiveness can dovetail perfectly, praised the Remmel the specialty chemicals company.
Annual Press Conference 2012
The Annual Press Conference took place in Düsseldorf on March 21, 2012. LANXESS AG presented its results for 2011 before numerous journalists from Germany and abroad. LANXESS posted EBITDA pre exceptionals of EUR 1,14 billion last year, which was the best year in the company’s history.
New investment for Singapore (June 2011)
The specialty chemicals group LANXESS aims to put the world’s largest facility for neodymium-polybutadiene rubber into operation by the beginning of 2015. Around 100 new jobs will be created as a result. The investment in Singapore totaling around 200 million euros is the second largest investment of LANXESS. The new plant is to be built on Jurong Island.
Stockholders’ Meeting 2011 (May 2011)
For the third time in a row LANXESS held its Annual Stockholders’ Meeting in the LANXESS arena in Cologne. Alongside presenting a financial report to the 1,700 or so stockholders attending, Chairman of the Board of Management Axel C. Heitmann also unveiled a world first: The first butyl rubber based on renewable raw materials. The Group also announced the move of its headquarters to the former Lufthansa building in Cologne.
Parliamentary Evening in Brussels
LANXESS hold its Parliamentary Evening in the representation of North Rhine-Westphalia in Brussels at May 3rd, 2011 in Brussels. Members of politcs, economic and media have been invited to the panel discussion about mobility and transport. At the same day, LANXESS opened its new office in Brussels.

The Annual Press Conference took place in Düsseldorf on March 17, 2011. LANXESS AG presented its results for 2010 in Düsseldorf before numerous journalists from Germany and abroad. LANXESS posted EBITDA pre exceptionals of EUR 918 million last year, which was the best year in the company’s history.
Groundbreaking ceremony for a new plant (January)
LANXESS is strengthening its Krefeld-Uerdingen site with two major projects. The specialty chemicals group is building a production plant for formalin and expanding the existing menthol production facilities. LANXESS is investing about EUR 40 Million. - Formalin is needed to make trimethylolpropane (TMP). The applications of this trivalent alcohol include numerous products used in the furniture, construction and automotive industries. Synthetic menthol is a key component of numerous aromas and pharmaceutical products.
Social networks in the focus (November)
Specialty chemicals group LANXESS has launched its schools project “The Social Media Experts”. 10 senior high school students presented the results from the three-day “think tank” on the topic of social networks to Sylvia Löhrmann, Minister of Education for North-Rhine Westphalia, member of the Board of Management Rainier van Roessel, among others.
LANXESS supports Teach First Deutschland (September)
Specialty chemicals group LANXESS today sealed its cooperation with the German non-profit organization Teach First Deutschland.
By contributing a total of 600,000 euros, LANXESS will support the Teach First project as a new main sponsor, initially until 2013.
Seventh occupational week in Krefeld (September)
Together with Chempark operator Currenta, LANXESS is holding the seventh “occupational safety week” at the Krefeld-Uerdingen site. The motto this time is “Man and Machine”. Alongside a large number of specialist presentations such as on the mental stress involved in working in control centers, the participants can learn more about occupational safety through a special safety exhibition.
