Under the invitation of LANXESS, French horn virtuoso Stewart Rose conducted the largest classical music mentorship program for youths in Singapore. It saw an attendance from some 150 students from the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO) and local mainstream secondary schools and junior colleges.
For the SNYO, having a French horn artist as its mentor is a prized opportunity, as the French horn is known to be the most challenging instrument in the orchestra and experts in this area are hard to come by.
On 30 November 2010, the LANXESS SNYO Classic’s inaugural concert, "A Musical Tribute", played to a near full-house audience at the Esplanade Concert Hall. The SNYO performed the works of Singaporean composer Leong Yoon Pin, Richard Strauss and Franz Schubert, under the baton of SNYO Music Director Lim Soon Lee.
