LANXESS held a "topping-out" ceremony at its Butyl Rubber (BTR) plant in Jurong Island on October 28, 2011 to commemorate the structural completion of all the buildings on the site. This important milestone in the construction of the plant was marked by the placement of a tree placed on the rooftop to symbolize good luck and prosperity. The plant which occupies over 200,000 square meters comprises a number of buildings and at a height of 21 meters, the "finishing building", where the "topping-out" ceremony took place, will be the highest building on the site.
From highlights of the groundbreaking ceremony in May 2010 to site clearance a mere two months later and the celebration of the 250,000 Manhours without Lost time Injury in January 2011 to the building of the Admin Building in August 2011, watch as we at LANXESS celebrate each milestone of the Butyl Rubber Plant in Singapore.
For LANXESS, it is the largest investment in the company’s history. The Leverkusen-based specialty chemicals group is to invest up to EUR 400 million in the coming years in a new site for the production of butyl rubber. This facility is to be built on the man-made island Jurong Island in Singapore.
