In January 2008, LANXESS Corp.  acquired a small molecule development and cGMP production facility in Redmond, Washington (USA) which is operated by its business division Saltigo. The facility is serving the growing pharmaceutical business line of the German based Saltigo GmbH (a subsidiary of LANXESS Deutschland GmbH). The site had previously been a small molecule manufacturing operation owned by ICOS Corp.

It includes both kilo labs and pilot plant facilities which meet cGMP standards. The facilities are designed and maintained to produce active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for early clinical testing up to and including Phase II. The business in Redmond is headed by Timothy Fitzpatrick, former Associate Director of ICOS Corp. Since acquiring the facility, Saltigo has made significant capital improvements in the facility to double the capacity of the kilo and pilot facilities as well as bringing in a highly experienced team in the areas of quality, chemistry and engineering.

While the facility´s location on the West Coast of the United States makes it ideally suited to serve customers in this geographic area, the Redmond site has attracted the attention of pharmaceutical customers from all over the U.S. and indeed the world. Saltigo operations in Redmond have demonstrated that regardless of the customer´s location, the facility can add value and successfully execute development and manufacturing projects. We welcome the interest of all companies with projects which would be a potential fit for Saltigo in Redmond.
