Pocan® XHR shows excellent mechanical properties
Especially for many electrical components in automotive applications.
PBT is the material of choice for many electrical components in automotive applications. Complex geometries and functional elements such as snap-fits have challenged our PBT developers. Pocan® XHR with its high strength at improved strain and toughness is our answer.
The improved strain values make replacement and optimization of standard PBT applications possible, e.g. for housings with snap-fits or metal overmolding applications with heat shock requirements.
Quick and extreme temperature changes, challenging humidity conditions and different thermal properties of metal and plastic in metal overmolding applications can lead to stress cracks. Pocan® XHR shows excellent stress crack performance due to its balanced combination of heat aging performance, improved hydrolysis resistance and high strength at improved strain and toughness. As a consequence the replacement and optimization of standard PBT applications is possible.

LANXESS offers a web based calculation service to design a variety of snap-fits made from thermoplastics. We call it "FEMSnap".
FEMSnap is based on the Finite-Element-Method (FEM) and allows quick and easy evaluation of snap-fits when analytical methods are insufficient or impractical.
