THE EFFECT OF VIRKON™ DTOX ON WATER QUALITY
The addition of Virkon™ DTOX to shrimp PL transportation water, at the recommended doses, does not change dissolved oxygen, temperature, salinity and alkalinity, as demonstrated in the following chart, enabling the disinfected water to be used in the transportation bags just 30 minutes after disinfection.
- Trial condition : salinity 30ppt.
- Red = control (normal water transportation)
- Blue = treatment (5ppm Virkon™ DTOX)

Virkon™ DTOX effectively reduces pathogen pressure without harming shrimp PL or causing negative effects on water quality. Therefore, it is safe to disinfect PL transportation water in the reservoir tank 30 minutes prior to filling the transportation bags. Recommended dosage rates are outlined in the table below:
DOSAGE | ||
At transport water tank | 5 gram/Ton of water | 30 minutes before post larvae packing |
At reservoir tank, ready to use tank |
5 gram/Ton of water | 30 minutes before water usage |
For further information on the application of Virkon™ DTOX to water used in the culturing of post larvae from PL 4 to PL15, and also nursery pond use, please consult your LANXESS representative.
