DBDCB – An alternative to overcome regulatory challenges for preservation in Europe

Business Unit: Material Protection Products

BPR (Biocidal Products Regulation) and CLP (Classification, Labeling and Packaging) are regulations having been evaluating active ingredients used in paints, coatings and related materials for more than 10 years. This has led to new thresholds and limitations with respect to the use of biocidal products - an effective microbial protection becomes more difficult if the choice of active ingredients is being limited.

Not only isothiazolinones have been set under pressure, but also the anticipated labelling of zinc pyrithione as toxic for reproduction will further decrease the preservation options. This might result in a revival of active ingredients that were not in the focus of the various industries in Europe so far. One of this active ingredients is dibromodicyanobutan, called DBDCB. Used in the US market for decades, Europe was reluctant to use DBDCB up to now due to sufficient well-known options.

Attend this webinar, we will:

  • Provide insights on why DBDCB formulations are an alternative to ensure a good and stable wet-state preservation of your products
  • Review the last 10 years of biocide restrictions
  • Introduce our biocidal product formulations

Why should you attend?

  • To understand the challenging regulatory environment for biocides in Europe.
  • To find alternatives to preserve your products.
