"Sustainably delivered – The supply chain of the future"

In the context of national and international regulatory requirements such as those of the German Act on Corporate Due Diligence in Supply Chains, we also organized a stakeholder roundtable on the topic of “Sustainable Delivery – the Supply Chain of the Future” in 2022. With representatives of politics, science, business and environmental organizations, we discussed how LANXESS follows the legal requirements.

The following issues were on the agenda:

  • 10 years of TfS (Together for Sustainability project) - What do we see in the chemical supply chains?
  • "Lanxess and the LkSG (Supply Chain Sourcing Obligations Act)".
  • Sustainably delivered - the supply chain of the future
  • EU supply chain law

The lively discussion on the vision of TfS, highlighted the sustainable and resilient supply chains with fair working conditions, climate protection, climate change mitigation and environmental protection, and sustainability as an integral part of the business relationship and purchasing process.

Markus Lehner (Legal & Compliance, LANXESS) spoke on the topic of the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act as it relates to LANXESS. Here, questions and answers such as supply chain risks, capital market pressures, customer/supplier relationships and other discussion topics came up.

At the end, it was agreed that only a few European companies will be affected by the EU supply chain law. Another difference to the German LkSGwill be the definition of the supply chain, which will be understood more as a value chain. The EU Supply Chain Act will not only address the issue of human rights, but also environmental protection and the achievement of climate targets.

To minimize bureaucracy, the intention is to focus on parts of the supply chain that actually pose a risk.
