Low viscosity, light colored sulfur carrier with high biodegradability and low aquatic toxicity

Additin® RC 8012 is a special sulfur carrier designed for use in all kind of environmentally sensitive environments, e.g. onshore and offshore oil and gas drilling, wind turbines, railroad tracks, areas near rivers or lakes. It provides outstanding lubricity and friction reduction as well as EP performance under boundary and mixed friction conditions. Its outstanding technical performance is combined with excellent compatibility with the sea water environment, as proven by marine food chain toxicity and sea water biodegradability tests (for more information see MSDS). Additin® RC 8012 is EU Ecolabel (EEL) approved with being 100% biodegradable and 100% nontoxic to aquatic organisms and can be used for all kind of EU Ecolabel application groups with a treat rate of 100%. Additin® RC 8012 is ideally suited for drilling operations both with oil based muds and water based muds, where high lubricity and EP properties are essential in order to protect casing and tubing against wear and reduce drilling force and energy consumption. It may be considered as an universal performance chemical to improve life time of equipment, reduce friction for a longer, deeper and smoother drill and thereby increase the rate of penetration (ROP). Its hydrolytic stability has been tested in CaCl2-solutions and in lime milk at pH of up to 11.5. Its low pour point (< -15°C) makes it an ideal choice for the formulation of lubricants and greases that are used at low temperature. Additin® RC 8012 is easily emulsifiable and a well-suited EP- and lubricity additive for lubricant emulsions.
