Acquisition of Solvay’s phosphorus additive business

LANXESS has successfully completed the purchase of the phosphorus chemicals business from Belgian chemicals group Solvay including its U.S. production site in Charleston/South Carolina. All relevant antitrust authorities have cleared the transaction.

Each year on October 24, the United Nations (U.N.) commemorates the inception of its Charter in 1945. Motivated by the desire to create a livable world, the United Nations therefore in 2015 adopted a total of 17 goals for sustainable development that all countries will attempt to implement by 2030. Recycling instead of disposal

Under the title “Resource-efficient manufacturing of leather chemicals”, LANXESS's Leather business unit has built a pilot plant together with the research institute INVITE and funded by the German government (BMBF). Thanks to the modular facility it will be possible to completely recycle residues from leather manufacturing – and on location too. Practical tests are taking place on the premises of the HELLER-LEDER GmbH Co. KG tannery.
