Specialty chemicals production is a major manufacturing sector for Argentina, and LANXESS is proud to play a key role. From its headquarters in Buenos Aires, the company supports various group functions and business units, such as Lubricant Additives, Polymer Additives, Material Protection Products and Rhein Chemie, while a production facility in Merlo produces natural minerals that are critical to the safety and effectiveness of many rubber-related products.

In 1971, Rhein Chemie Argentina headquarters was established in the site of Burzaco. In addition to  the production facilities, business and administrative offices are located in Burzaco. This site is in the ‘Sector Industrial Planificado de Almirante Brown’ city of Burzaco, in the south of Gran Buenos Aires (Argentina). 

At its Merlo site, the company processes its own mica. The mica is one of the main inputs used in the production of release agents. Mica is among the most abundant minerals in nature. Its particular characteristics of elasticity, flexibility and heat resistance to water, make it a perfect material for industrial use due to its properties as electrical and thermal insulation.

LANXESS is headquartered in São Paulo, which is not only Brazil’s largest city, but it is also the country’s most important economic, financial and cultural center. Conducting business activities from this key area, which is also major transportation hub, keeps LANXESS at the forefront. Various locations across South America, a cornerstone of the global network, are able to provide customers with products and services from all of the company’s business units. 

LANXESS Brazil operates three locations:  the local headquarters in São Paulo, the multi-BU site in Porto Feliz, and the Material Protection Products (MPP) production plant in Jarinu. All the Business Units are doing business in Brazil, including production lines of IPG, and RCH in Porto Feliz and MPP in Jarinu. The site in Porto Feliz, which is home to four of the company’s business units, is one of the biggest integrated state-of-the-art production sites in the global LANXESS network. With the acquisitions of leading biocides manufacturers IPEL in 2020 and Theseo 2021 LANXESS added two sites  for the production and formulation of effective biocides. The company only significantly expanded its portfolio, but also added team knowledge and new technologies, thus further expanding  possibilities for improvements in research and product development. 

One of the country’s major manufacturing regions, Toronto, Ontario, is home to multiple LANXESS production sites immersed in Responsible Care performance. LANXESS’ Canadian operations support customers across the company’s Additives and business units –  from a state-of-the-art facility in Elmira that produces synthetic lubricants and lubricant additives, to the West Hill plant that produces a variety of products like calcium sulfonates to keep engines clean.
