In Southeast Asia, Singapore is an important business and technical hub for LANXESS. All business units are represented there, serving customers across the ASEAN region. Accordingly, LANXESS in Singapore hosts regional marketing and sales functions for many business units. In addition, it operates a production facility and a regional technical center for the Material Protection Products (MPP) business unit.
Besides Singapore, LANXESS is operating in ASEAN legal entities in Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia as well as a Representative Office in Indonesia.
The two LANXESS sites in Australia are located in the country’s two largest cities, Sydney and Melbourne. Sydney is home to headquarters of LANXESS Pty. Ltd. and a production site of the Inorganic Pigments (IPG) business unit. Sales offices are located in both cities and further warehouse locations are also spread across the vast continent to ensure the ready supply of LANXESS products.
LANXESS Pty. Ltd. represents all LANXESS business units in Australia and also manages the Group’s business in Oceania and the Pacific Islands.
The story of LANXESS in China can be traced back to the 19th century, when Bayer entered the Chinese market. Since the setup of LANXESS Greater China in 2005, the Group has continued to develop its footprint in the country - in development, research and production.
LANXESS Greater China is headquartered in Shanghai. It currently has five offices, 15 subsidiaries, eight production sites and seven R&D centers, and employs around 1,200 people.
As the largest market for LANXESS in Asia, China is of great importance. The growth potential in the chemical industry is particularly high here: China already accounts for around 40% of the chemical market and is projected to reach 50% by 2030. All LANXESS business units of its segments Performance Chemicals, Advanced Intermediates, Specialty Additives and Engineering Materials are active here.
LANXESS works closely with its local partners to develop market-oriented solutions that meet local market needs. In addition to technical support and testing responsibilities, LANXESS R&D centers in China are involved in developing new technologies, processes, novel materials and replacing conventional raw materials with environment-friendly chemicals.
LANXESS has a long history in India spanning back to more than 100 years as Bayer Chemicals. It was incorporated in India on February 20, 2004, and was named as LANXESS India Private Limited on June 30, 2004.
LANXESS India Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of LANXESS Deutschland GmbH, is represented through all its eleven business units, operating out of its registered office in Thane and sales office in New Delhi with around 1000 employees across its operations.
The company has manufacturing facilities in India for five of its business units located in Nagda in Madhya Pradesh and Jhagadia in Gujarat. Production facilities for business units Liquid Purification Technologies (ion exchange resins), High Performance Materials (high tech plastics), Material Protection Products (biocides) and Rhein Chemie (business line FTA and business line SRP) are operational in Jhagadia. The business unit Flavors & Fragrances has production facilities in Nagda.
LANXESS has invested a sizeable amount in India in the last few years, in greenfield investments, acquisitions and in upgradation of assets, which validates the potential of the Indian chemical industry. LANXESS is here to be a part of this growth and expects to grow its operations in the Indian subcontinent in the coming years.
LANXESS in Japan is headquartered in Tokyo’s Marunouchi district, and employs around 100 employees. All LANXESS business units of its segments Performance Chemicals, Advanced Intermediates, Specialty Additives and Engineering Materials are represented in Japan. Beside Tokyo, the company operates an integrated site in Toyohashi, Aichi prefecture, which is home to a production facility for rubber additives and a technical customer service center for liquid purification technologies.
Japan is a strategically important market for LANXESS. The company is one of the major suppliers of Japanese automobile production. LANXESS is very well positioned with all its business units and sees future opportunities for profitable growth especially in the areas of E&E and new mobility. The company also sees and actively pursues further opportunities in offering custom-manufacturing services in the field of consumer protection through its fully owned subsidiary Saltigo.
The history of LANXESS in Korea began in 1955, when Bayer entered the Korean market. Since the setup of LANXESS Korea in 2006, LANXESS has established itself as a trusted and innovative partner for Korea’s major industries such as chemicals, automotive, batteries, E&E, semiconductor and construction.
LANXESS Korea is headquartered in Seoul. It currently operates 10 business units under its four business segments: Advanced Intermediates, Specialty Additives, Consumer Protection and Engineering Materials, employing around 35 people.
Korea is one of the strategically important markets for LANXESS. Home to global leading manufacturers of batteries, automobiles, and E&E applications including semiconductors, the country offers excellent potential for LANXESS business. In particular, LANXESS works closely with the Korean E&E and automotive industries to supply high-quality specialty chemicals and develop technologies. With its sound production and R&D network worldwide, LANXESS also provides the products and technical support to Korean customers’ global production sites in a timely manner, contributing to their growth in the global market.
