ADDITIN® RC 2540

Highly active, low viscosity, light colored sulfur carrier

Additin® RC 2540 is a highly active, light colored, low odor sulfur carrier with good solubility in most types of base oils. Due to its extremely high sulfur activity, it is an excellent choice for manufacturing metalworking fluids for almost all kind of heavy duty metal removal and metal forming processes and an outstanding replacement for chlorinated paraffins.

Additin® RC 2540 shows significant sulfur activity already at slightly elevated temperatures of 50 to 60°C. With increasing temperature, it provides a steadily increasing active sulfur level of up to 90% of its total sulfur content at 150°C. Because of its high sulfur content, Additin® RC 2540 can be used in combination with other sulfur carriers in order to increase their extreme pressure activity.

The performance of metalworking oils containing Additin® RC 2540 can even be increased by synergistic combinations with overbased sulfonates like Calcinate® OR or polar compounds like Additin® RC 8100. Zinc dithiophosphates, e.g. Additin® RC 3038, phosphoric acid partial esters like Additin® RC 3760 or ashless phosphorus-sulfur additives such as Additin® RC 3890 are as well excellent supplements.

Additin® RC 2540 is also easily emulsifiable and works effectively as an EP booster for soluble oils and semisynthetic metalworking fluid emulsions.
