COLORED CONCRETE WORKS®

Discover the possibilities of pigmented concrete in architecture.

Concrete does not always have to be gray. Colorful architecture and infrastructure projects can be realized by using our Bayferrox® and Colortherm® pigments in a wide variety of shades – without affecting the performance of the concrete itself. Discover how pigmenting the concrete can go beyond aesthetics by contextualizing a building in its surroundings, reflecting its cultural context or providing additional functionalities.

THE POSSIBILITIES OF COLORED CONCRETE

Color makes architecture unforgettable. As a modern construction material, colored concrete combines aspects of functionality, differentiation and emotion in a unique way. Visionary architects are using pigmented concrete to highlight the aesthetic quality of this versatile natural building material.

ARCHITECTURAL
 HIGHLIGHTS

The addition of our high-quality iron and chromium oxide pigments enables individual color design perfectly matched to the building project. The following case studies showcase in detail how unique contemporary architecture has been realized around the globe by renowned architects.

CONCRETE TECHNOLOGIES AND PIGMENTS

LUCEM GmbH
Light transmitting concrete (LTC) is an innovative construction material which transmits light through the concrete.
Colorful architecture by day and night – this is made possible with Light Transmitting Concrete. By means of thousands of fine, embedded light-conducting fibers, translucent concrete transports the light from a natural or artificial light source through any thickness of building component. The translucent concrete elements on facades, furniture, walls or floors thus begin to glow and radiate fascinatingly from within.
A supplier of light transmitting concrete is LUCEM GmbH. Its light transmitting concrete is based on the interaction of three main components: concrete, fibers and light. The principle: special glass fibers are embedded in the concrete. When artificial or natural light hits the fibers, light is transmitted through the concrete – making it shine in the dark. During the day, the additional coloring of the translucent concrete with Bayferrox pigments can give an unique look.
