Community Infrastructure and Public Services
Supporting community infrastructure and public services is a key part of LANXESS’ commitment to the well-being of local populations. Through partnerships with municipal authorities, NGOs and community organisations, LANXESS implements projects that improve transport links, energy access and water management, as well as providing inclusive services for all residents.
These initiatives range from
- donating school buses and
- installing solar street lights to
- maintaining overhead water tanks,
- sponsoring drinking water facilities,
- and supporting NGOs such as SNEH and Sewa Rural.
They provide practical solutions that enhance daily life, promote sustainability, and ensure inclusive development in the regions where the company operates.
The projects highlighted below demonstrate LANXESS’ dedication to empowering communities, improving public services and fostering resilient, well-equipped neighbourhoods.
LANXESS makes Travel easier for Nagda Students
In an event attended by many community leaders and opinion makers of Nagda, LANXESS handed over a 42 seater bus to the Municipal Corporation of Nagda. The donation was received whole heartedly by the community seniors and the students there.
The keys of the bus were handed to the Chairperson of Nagda Municipality, Shobha Yadav by Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Executive Director, LANXESS India and Senior Vice President, BU – AII. S.K Jindal, General Manager - Head of Manufacturing, Nagda, the sitting Member of Legislative assembly, opposition leader, other regional leaders, students from the Govt college and many senior LANXESS employees were present at the event.
The bus will provide the students from Government college, a reliable transport every day. The bus will be maintained and run by the transport division of the Nagda municipality.
LANXESS supported the local community by installing 8 solar street lights in Mehtawas village, neighboring Nagda. Notably, these lights would be driven by solar power, which is not only environmentally friendly but also reliable as sunlight is the source of power. Prior to that, the residents of the village did not have proper street lights and frequent power failures in the Nagda region made lights powered by electricity unreliable. The solar lamps contributed by LANXESS are of 18 watt each.
The contribution was culminated on the World Earth Day through a ceremony organized at the Mehtawas Shaskiya Prathamik Vidyalaya, a school which LANXESS has supported in 2010. In October 2017, LANXESS India undertook the installation of solar street lights in Mehatwas & Durgapura where, the company supported the municipal corporation with installation of twenty five solar street lights. The installation included
- pole installation,
- battery,
- solar panels,
- solar bulbs and
- maintenance for a period of three years.
LANXESS made a donation to Sewa Rural, a voluntary development organization involved in health and development activities in rural tribal areas. The contribution was made in favour of Vivekananda Gramin Tekniki Kendra for their futuristic project on equipping and strengthening amenities in the campus and supporting services for students.
The project entailed
- installation of solar street lights and solar cooker system,
- building the proposed water harvesting and drainage systems and
- making the water lagoon facility more effective and
- accessories for overhead tank and pipelines.
In July 2012, LANXESS made a donation to SNEH, which will be utilized by the NGO for the construction of its new building coming up at Nagda.
In 2010, LANXESS India supported SNEH which covered infrastructure improvement and the buying of new equipment to cater to the needs of the physically and mentally challenged children at the NGO.
About SNEH
Special Need Education Home (SNEH) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) working towards the betterment of differently abled children. With some of the children being either physically or mentally challenged, SNEH endeavors to make them self-reliable by providing them with vocational training and occupational therapy.
LANXESS, having a manufacturing facility in Nagda, has sponsored and installed best-in-class water coolers to provide purified and cool drinking water at four centrally located areas in Nagda. These locations include Government school - Ward No. 13, office of the Sub divisional Magistrate, Nagar Palika, and Krishi Upaj Mandi, which have relatively higher population density.
These coolers were made operational following an inaugural ceremony near Nagar Palika office on July 9th, 2013.
