Special Scholarships and Cultural Initiatives
LANXESS creates opportunities that extend beyond traditional education and healthcare by focusing on culture, recreation, and innovation. In partnership with local authorities and educational institutions, LANXESS implements initiatives that provide access to sports, music, the arts, and platforms for academic excellence.
Projects such as the Culture and Recreation Center in Nagda provide the local community with access to a gymnasium, musical instruments, practice halls, and recreational facilities. Qualified teachers and coaches guide participants in developing their dance, yoga, indoor games, and other artistic skills.
Additionally, LANXESS sponsors events like Azeotropy’09 at IIT Bombay to
- encourage young talent in science and technology,
- promote innovation,
- and raise environmental awareness and awareness of practical solutions to global challenges.
These initiatives reflect LANXESS's commitment to holistic community development, cultural enrichment, and fostering future leaders and innovators.
Being a small remote town, Nagda lacks facilities for cultural enhancement and recreation. Addressing this need, LANXESS has set up a Culture and Recreation Center in partnership with local government bodies wherein musical instruments and training along with other recreational and sports facilities for the local community has been made available.
The company has constructed this facility for the local population which entails entire construction of the building and aiding it with facilities like
- gymnasium equipment,
- musical instruments,
- and halls for practice etc.
This not only includes indoor games but also gives a platform to hone one’s skills in art forms like dancing, yoga etc. Being a collaborative effort between LANXESS and the local municipal corporation, the municipal authorities will also arrange for qualified teachers and coaches to train the beneficiaries.
LANXESS India sponsored Azeotropy’09, which was held on March 7-8th, 2009 at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, one of the country’s most prestigious technology institutes.
Azeotropy’09 was jointly organized by IIT Bombay and the Chemical Engineering Association. Azeotropy’09’s tag line was “We mean Green” - perfectly in tune with LANXESS’ commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. LANXESS wanted to encourage young chemical engineers to come up with technologies to combat pollution and therefore sponsored the poster and paper competition at the event.
