ADDITIN® RC 2317
Low viscosity, active sulfur
carrier with beneficial eco-toxicological profile
Additin® RC 2317 is a light-colored, nearly
odorless, low viscosity sulfur carrier. It is an excellent Extreme Pressure additive for
manufacturing metalworking fluids for cutting operations. Due to its low
viscosity Additin® RC 2317 is ideally suited for formulating metalworking oils
with low viscosity and outstanding flushing properties. Because of its
specially selected raw materials; Additin® RC 2317 offers a very low pourpoint
and an extended solubility in various base fluids compared to other types of
sulfur carriers. Additin® RC 2317 is ideally suited for metalworking oils based
on mineral oils, hydrocrack oils, polyalphaolefins or GTL oils.
The performance of metalworking fluids
containing Additin® RC 2317 can even be increased by combinations with zinc
dithiophosphates, e.g. Additin® RC 3038, phosphoric acid partial esters or
ashless phosphorus-sulfur additives like Additin® RC 3890.
Additin® RC 2317 meets the requirements of the LuSC (“Lubricant Substance Classification”) list and is therefore suitable for the formulation of lubricants that can be awarded with the EU Ecolabel. It is labelled with the Scopeblue brand for consisting of more than 50 percent of natural, regionally sourced renewable raw materials.

FAQ
Below, you will find some of our most frequently asked questions. In case you have any question that is not answered - feel free to contact us!
The common types of Extreme Pressure additives are sulfur- based compounds, phosphorus- based compounds, chlorine-based compounds.
LANXESS has a bright product portfolio of sulfur-based products Additin® EP and phosphorus-based products Additin® AW.
Sulfur carriers are sulfur containing organic compounds, based on unsaturated raw materials like olefins, vegetable oils or unsaturated esters.
They contain 2 to 5 sulfur atoms forming a kind of bridge between the olefin or ester parts.
LANXESS offers sulfur carriers under the brand name Additin® EP.
This finally depends on the specific process or application in which the lubricant is supposed to be used.
Our Application Technology team is happy to support you with further information.
Sulfur carriers do not show any kind of hazard classification.
