Healthcare and Wellbeing
Healthcare and wellbeing lie at the heart of LANXESS’ commitment to the communities surrounding its operations. Through partnerships with local hospitals, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and industry collaborators, the company implements projects that enhance medical infrastructure, increase access to critical healthcare services and raise awareness of key health issues.
These initiatives include
donating state-of-the-art medical equipment such as
- dialysis machines,
- sonography equipment,
- and digital X-ray machines,
as well as
- conducting health check-ups,
- mental health workshops,
- and HIV/AIDS awareness programmes.
LANXESS strives to improve the quality of medical care and promote wellbeing for all community members. The following initiatives demonstrate the company's commitment to strengthening health systems and empowering individuals with knowledge and care.
Dialysis and RO Machine
In 2018, after taking feedback from the hospital authorities, LANXESS supported the Nagda Civil hospital with another dialysis machine worth INR 6,40,640. This ensured timely treatment at affordable costs for the local patients improving the quality of medical aid in the region.
In 2016, LANXESS India donated a state-of-the-art dialysis machine to the hospital. Having identified a still existent gap in the medical facilities available to the local population. The idea was to reduce dependability on medical establishments based in far-off cities like Ujjain & Indore. Setting up of the dialysis machine in the Nagda Civil hospital ensured timely treatment at affordable costs for the local patients improving the quality of medical aid in the region.
Sonography Machine
As part of its three-year long commitment to contribute towards the upgradation of the existing facilities and infrastructure of the Civil hospital, Nagda, LANXESS provided a much-needed state-of-the-art sonography machine worth INR 10,00,000 for the hospital. This was the organizations quick response to the request from the local authorities along with the hospital management who presented to LANXESS the need of a sonography machine as the patients, especially women, had to travel long distances to get such basic tests done. The Civil hospital has undertaken the responsibility to operate and maintain the sonography machine.
Digital X-Ray Machine
In 2015, LANXESS India donated a Digital X – Ray Machine. With the installation of the new machine, Nagda’s was the first civil Hospital in the entire district of Ujjain with the ultra-modern facility. The installation facilitated the residents of Nagda and the nearby villagers getting accurately diagnosed at reasonable and affordable cost.
LANXESS spread the message of being a responsible corporate citizen through its valued customer and the leading tyre manufacturer, Apollo Tyres. Apollo Tyres conducted a one day program on HIV-Aids Awareness at Jhagadia site on 23rd June 2011. This initiative of Apollo Tyres was part of their commitment to the International Labor Organization (ILO) to cascade the information to the industry at large.
The objective of this program was to create awareness about HIV/AIDS and
- its possible causes,
- prevention of the disease,
- mitigation of the impact of HIV/AIDS in the workplace,
- care and support of workers infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and
- elimination of stigma and discrimination on the basis of real or perceived HIV status.
Overall 20 people from different departments attended this program. It was an interactive session and was well received by the workforce at LANXESS. Everyone appreciated that this session improved their understanding about HIV-AIDS.
In order to facilitate medical aid to the slum dwellers, LANXESS in association with Stree Mukti Sangathana (SMS) conducted a series of health check-up camps along with mental health workshops. The health check-up for women and men and Jidnyasa program for boys and girls in the age group 14+ were conducted.
Jidnyasa program involved detailed workshops and interactive sessions with students in 8th, 9th and 10th standard with the curriculum bifurcated into different modules, namely- adolescence, stress management, occupations, values, addiction and sex education. Children aged between 10-13 years were given Tejaswini training which included speaking with children openly on topics such as self-identity, community mapping and anatomy besides teaching them how to make dolls and dairies, writing letters to their mothers, good touch - bad touch etc.
The sessions were conducted in Marathi and Hindi language from December 10, 2018 to December 30, 2018. The project received support and appreciation by all the members of the target group.
