Women Empowerment & Vocational Training
Fostering women’s empowerment is a key part of LANXESS's commitment to inclusive community development. Through partnerships with local NGOs, government programs, and community organizations, LANXESS implements initiatives that
- improve education and vocational training and
- create self-employment opportunities for women and girls.
Projects like the Maa Niketan initiative provide girls with school supplies, professional training, and healthcare, equipping them with the resources necessary to build secure and independent futures. In Nagda and surrounding villages, LANXESS has established stitching centers with sewing and embroidery machines, training equipment, and upgraded civil infrastructure, enabling women to develop skills and establish sustainable livelihoods.
The company also supports vocational training programs that offer on-the-job learning opportunities at its sites, helping women gain practical experience and prepare for employment. These initiatives demonstrate LANXESS’s commitment to
- empowering women,
- promoting economic independence,
- and fostering resilient, self-reliant communities.
As a part of its CSR initiative, LANXESS supported a Thane based Charitable Trust – Maa Niketan on July 16th, 2012 by donating essential school stationery items.
A total of 350 school kits which included school bags, drawing books, geometry boxes, color crayons and yoga mats were provided to Maa Niketan. The contribution was made through a small ceremony at Maa Niketan’s premises in Thane.
About Maa Niketan
Founded in 1972, Maa Niketan is home to over 300 girls between the age group of 5 and 25 years, who do not have the security of a parental home. The trust provides the girls with
- basic education,
- professional training,
- job opportunities and
- other health care facilities.
LANXESS India, at its Nagda site, supports the community in the neighbourhood as a part of its commitment to promote the welfare of people. In a novel effort to help women seek vocational training,
- sewing and embroidery machines
- and peripherals
were provided to two schools in that region.
The Labour Welfare Board of the Government of Madhya Pradesh organizes various vocational training programmes, one of them being free training in sewing for women and girl children belonging to the families of labours or workers. Nagda is one of the locations where around 30 women are currently trained at such a sewing training center. LANXESS India helped them with
- four sewing machines,
- two embroidery machines and
- peripherals like ceiling fans, water purifier, etc.
LANXESS has helped in setting up of a stitching centre for under privileged women at Durgupara village in Nagda. This has been accomplished by contributing for stitching equipment like
- embroidery machines,
- sewing machines,
- chairs and upgrading the civil infrastructure inside the premises.
The infrastructure support for the centre includes a water storage tank, a water purifier, cupboards, benches and chairs as well as tailoring aids like scissors, measuring tapes etc. All women in the village including some girl students will benefit from this stitching centre by acquiring necessary skills to later develop this as a source of income.
The stitching school was inaugurated on December 22nd, 2012, at a simple ceremony in Durgapura village.
