LANXESS Names New CFO for North America

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania –  LANXESS today announced the appointment of Simon Berheide as the new Chief Financial Officer for the specialty chemical company’s operations in North America.

Mr. Berheide, who has been with the company at its German headquarters since 2008, assumed the regional role of CFO officially on July 1. Berheide has held numerous financial leadership positions within the LANXESS Group, most recently acting as the Head of Business Development and Integration, as well as Head of Global Controlling & Strategy.

As CFO, Berheide will oversee the financials for LANXESS’ sites and locations across the region, which includes more than 2,000 employees spread across 28 sites in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Berheide succeeds outgoing CFO Christian Meiners who held the post since 2021 and will return to Germany, as planned, following his assignment.

Mr. Berheide and Mr. Meiners have worked closely over the past several months with the team to ensure an orderly transition.

Meiners, who has been with LANXESS since 2005, leaves his post as the region’s CFO after three years in Pittsburgh, home of the company’s North American Regional headquarters. He will relocate back to global headquarters in Cologne, Germany and serve in a financial role within the company’s Advanced Industrial Intermediates (AII) business unit.

Berheide started his career in 2003 in Germany in a dual degree training program with Bayer before pursuing an MBA at IE Business School in Spain and at NYU’s Stern School of Business in the US with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Finance. With his many years of experience he brings in valuable expertise in the areas of capital markets,  accounting, controlling and management of strategic group projects including M&A. He is fluent in both German and English.

Berheide is relocating to the Pittsburgh region with his family.
