Namitesh Roy Choudhury
Vice Chairman and Managing Director, LANXESS India
Backed by over 30 years of experience, Namitesh Roy Choudhury has been appointed as the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of LANXESS India Private Limited effective July 1, 2022. He also assumes the role as Head of the India Region and will directly report into the Board of Management of LANXESS AG.
Roy Choudhury is a member of the LANXESS Global Leadership team that includes Heads of the Business Units, Heads of Global Group Functions and Region Heads in addition to all members of the Management Board.
He is also a member of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) committee of LANXESS India and plays an active role in all CSR projects undertaken by the organization across the country.
Roy Choudhury is part of several Trade Bodies and Industry Associations. He is the Vice Chair of the Sub-committee on Safety, Sustainability & Global Standards of National Chemicals & Petrochemicals Committee of CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) and on the Executive Committee of the Indian Chemical Council (ICC) and the Indo German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC). He is also the Chair of the Indian Bromine Platform (IBP).
He has been the Executive Director since 1 October, 2021 and Vice President, Industrial & Environmental Affairs for LANXESS India since 2007. He moved to the LANXESS India organization in 2004 after the carve out from Bayer as the Head of Production, Technology, Safety & Environment (PTSE) and Capital Investment.
He has led and executed several projects at the Greenfield LANXESS site in Jhagadia in Gujarat, India. These include setting up of the state-of-the-art ion exchange resins plant for business unit Liquid Purification Technologies, compounding facility for High Performance Materials and relocation of the Rubber Chemicals and Rubber Compounding facilities. Under his guidance, LANXESS India has shown remarkable track record in areas of health and safety.
Prior to joining LANXESS, Roy Choudhury spent 16 years at Bayer in various departments such as plant engineering, central engineering, energy & environment, and projects. He also spent three years in China executing a project for Bayer of setting up a greenfield anti-oxidant plant at Tongling, Anhui. Prior to joining Bayer, he also worked with the Tata Group in the beginning of his career.
Namitesh Roy Choudhury is a postgraduate in Industrial Engineering Management from NITIE, Mumbai and a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Roy Choudhury is married and has a son.
