From the outset, the claim was: “Energizing Chemistry”. Being fast, agile, resilient and flexible was our motto, and we have proven it time and again since then. To be successful in highly dynamic markets and an ever more complex world, you need fresh thinking, new approaches and flexibility. With this “DNA”, LANXESS has reinvented itself several times over the past 20 years and has also mastered challenging situations. After spinning off from Bayer with a diverse portfolio, the first few years were characterized by a fundamental realignment and restructuring. Then, LANXESS quickly switched to growth and, in just the first decade, developed into a leading supplier of, in particular, synthetic rubber and high-quality plastics for sustainable mobility.Our Timeline and Milestones

We are a leading specialty chemicals company based in Cologne. With around 12,400 employees in 32 countries, we are an established company on the global market.
The core business is the development, manufacturing and marketing of chemical intermediates, additives and consumer protection products with annual sales of EUR 6.7 billion (2023).

The name LANXESS - an artificial word derived from the French "lancer" "to move forward" and the English word "success" – both aptly describe the development of the Group.
