LANXESS at European Coating Show

Decarbonization is a key challenge for the coatings industry. A large proportion of the CO2 emissions of coating formulations comes from raw materials. LANXESS has launched the product line Bayferrox® Scopeblue pigments which helps to measurably minimize the carbon footprint in high pigmented applications. These micronized iron oxide yellow pigments have a PCF reduction of around 35% compared to regular grades. The new product line includes our high-performance iron oxides Bayferrox 3910, 3910 LV and 3920. Scopeblue pigments can be used in existing coating systems and provide the same level of performance as their regular counterparts. Of course, third-party verification is key when it comes to ensuring that the environmental footprint of products is transparent. LANXESS provides comprehensive LCA data – verified  by the independent testing house TÜV Rheinland. 

Our holistic approach based on CONTROL DETECT PREVENT enhances production efficiency and protects coatings from contamination. Aqueous raw materials in paints create an environment for microbial growth, compromising product quality. Sustainable products require aligning with biocidal regulations. Plant hygiene and tailored preservation systems are essential. LANXESS offers solutions for microbial protection in production such as Preventol® and Klarix®. 

In the area of colorants, our water-based pigment pastes Levanyl® (organic pigments) and Levanox® (inorganic pigments) offer outstanding colour strength, gloss and process efficiency.
They are free from solvents and APEOs and are ideal for use in paints and varnishes, the construction industry, agriculture, the paper industry and more.
LANXESS is also a leading manufacturer of phosphorus- and bromine-based flame retardants, which are used in paints, coatings, casting resins, adhesives and sealants where high fire protection is required.
Our portfolio includes halogen-free and halogenated flame retardants such as Disflamoll® and Levagard®, as well as non-phthalate plasticisers and other additives used as low-VOC coalescing agents in water-based coatings.

The Flavors & Fragrances (F&F) business unit offers tailored solutions for the paint and coatings industry. With production sites worldwide, F&F provides key ingredients such as Benzyl Alcohol, Benzoic Acid, Sodium Benzoate and Benzaldehyde under the trade names PUROX® and Kalama®. These products enhance performance in coatings, improving viscosity, flexibility, gloss, adhesion, and chemical resistance.
