Yellow metal deactivator
Additin® RC 5800 protects copper, cobalt, their alloys, and nickel from corrosion by forming a thin, stable, and nearly colorless film. It prevents copper ion accumulation in products like cooling fluids, avoiding copper ion-catalyzed oxidation and pitting on metals such as aluminum, zinc, iron, and steel. It can be combined with other corrosion inhibitors to enhance their effectiveness.
Effective at low concentrations, Additin® RC 5800 is easy to handle, process, dose, and dissolves well in glycols. It can replace solid tolyltriazole, requiring about 2.3 times the amount. It mixes with lower alcohols, ethylene glycol, and propylene glycol, though water dilutions may be slightly cloudy. Compatibility with base fluids and other additives should be verified. It is not compatible with acids or highly acidic solutions. As a tank-side additive, it dissolves with sufficient turbulence in metalworking or cleaning solutions.
