Silvadur™ – The invisible hero to combat unpleasant odors

Editor: Kerstin Stenger

Spring is finally here, and with it, nature is coming back to life. Hikers look forward to exploring the forests, climbing the mountains and enjoying the fresh air.

But spring also brings unpredictable weather conditions. It's cold in the morning, warm and humid in the afternoon, and sudden rain showers can appear at any moment.

This is a particular challenge for us hikers and our outdoor clothing. Our clothing not only has to protect us from the rain and cold, it also has to be breathable.

Despite proper care, our beloved functional clothing often develops unpleasant odors over the years. How can we prevent this? And what should we pay attention to?

This is where Silvadur™ comes into play - an innovative freshness system that prevents odors from developing at all.

What is SilvadurTM?

SilvadurTM is a silver ion polymer technology for treating textiles to prevent odors. The polymer coating is applied evenly over the entire fiber surface and provides long-lasting antibacterial protection.

How SilvadurTM works

SilvadurTM is applied to the textile fibers during textile production, for example by exhaustion or spraying. The silver-polymer technology is evenly distributed over the garment and can withstand up to 40 washes at high temperatures.

The advantages of SilvadurTM

  • Long-lasting freshness thanks to odor-inhibiting effect
  • Conserves resources: the odor-inhibiting effect of SilvadurTM means that clothing can be washed less frequently. Fewer washes result in longer-lasting clothing.
  • SilvadurTM is more resource-efficient than alternative products such as nanoparticles, salts or crystals thanks to its effective dosing system.
  • Clothing treated with SilvadurTM is stable to light and heat.
  • SilvadurTM is OEKO-Tex Label certified . It does not irritate or sensitize the skin.
  • SilvadurTM is suitable for natural and synthetic fibers.

SilvadurTM the problem solver

Outdoor clothing is generally not very sustainable, as it is rarely made from natural materials. The longer we wear the clothing, the better the ecological balance. With SilvadurTM we are helping to further extend the life of our clothing.

Incidentally, SilvadurTM can be used for more than just outdoor clothing. There are numerous areas of application, such as towels, sportswear, socks, curtains, bed linen, workwear and much more. So wherever odor control is important - SilvadurTM is a problem solver.

What you should consider when buying outdoor clothing

  • Clothing should be breathable to keep the body warm and also be able to wick away perspiration at high temperatures.
  • Look out for water-repellent material. Rain showers often come unexpectedly.
  • Take a look at the finish of the zippers and seams. They are particularly important for keeping water out!
  • Your outdoor clothing should be robust.
  • Merino and sheep's wool from Austria are currently in vogue. There is also a combination of European sheep's wool with synthetic fabrics, as these do not scratch.
  • If you don't like wool, you can use recycled materials.
  • Look out for the SilvadurTM trademark on clothing.

We hope you enjoy hiking without the distraction of unpleasant odors.
