ADDITIN® RC 7132
Aminic antioxidant, liquid, easy to formulate, highly thermally stable especially for chain oils
Additin® RC 7132 is a highly effective, easy to handle aminic antioxidant of universal use. In contrast to other aminic antioxidants, e.g. Diphenyleneamine derivatives, Additin® RC 7132 exhibits better oxidation inhibition and less sludge formation at low treat level.
Additin® RC 7132 offers excellent performance at very low treat level in mineral oils and non-polar synthetic fluids (e.g. PAO or hydrocrack oils). Additin® RC 7132 shows very good solubility in ester oils, which makes it suitable for use as antioxidant booster in mixtures of ester oils and mineral oils resp. synthetic fluids. Typical treat levels of Additin® RC 7132 in lubricating oils are in a range of 0.1 to 0.2% by weight. For lubricating greases higher dosages are recommended. Products containing up to 0.35% by weight of Additin® RC 7132 need not to be labeled unless other compounds are included, which have to be labeled. Please note that Lubricants formulated with Additin® RC 7132 may discolor in use. This has no negative effect on the lubricant characteristics and performance.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Not really: Ageing of lubricants includes several steps, the first being a radical step, followed by reaction of the radicals with oxygen from air. That reaction step involving oxygen is a chemical oxidation and used therefore pars pro toto to name the whole process!
Lanxess offers all three types of antioxidants: Primary antioxidants – radical scavengers – could be found in the product lines Additin RC 7xxx and Naugalube. Secondary antioxidants are not found under ANTIOXIDANTS directly, but as sulfur carriers and dithiophosphates work as secondary antioxidants, those could be found in the product lines Additin RC 2xxx, Additin RC 30xx and Additin RC 6xxx. Tertiary antioxidants are not found under ANTIOXIDANTS directly, but as corrosion inhibitors for cobalt, copper and steel work as tertiary antioxidants, those could be found in the product lines Additin RC 4xxx and Additin RC 82xx!
When scavenging radicals primary antioxidants turn into chemical species that might absorb light of different frequencies. The lubricant appears in a complementary color. Discoloration means the antioxidants are at work.
No: Antioxidants reduce the velocity of ageing but cannot turn time back! Therefore, antioxidants must be added before radicals are generated and ageing started!
