Schulrenovierungsprojekt in Thailand
First community engagement initiative in Thailand
Supported by employee volunteers
LANXESS recently undertook in Thailand a school renovation project under the theme of “Energizing Education – Transferring Knowledge, Stepping Into the Future.” As part of the project, company volunteers improved the infrastructure of the 46 years old Wat Hua Na School in Suphanburi, a town close to Bangkok. The newly renovated school building was inaugurated by School Principal Chairat Ngoen-Nur-Di and LANXESS Country Representative for ASEAN Vinod Agnihotri.
Major renovations to improve the learning environment for 39 local students and nine teachers included the refurbishment of the school’s sanitary complex, repairs in the science room and the overall enhancement of school premises. In addition, the volunteers conducted educational activities with students centering on the respiratory system of the lungs and hand spraying alcohol.
“As a chemical company, we are deeply committed to a sustainable corporate policy, as part of which we get actively involved in local Corporate Responsibility as a way of giving back to the communities that we work and live in,” Vinod Agnihotri said.
“This project marks the first community engagement effort by LANXESS in Thailand. Through this, we strive to provide a holistic learning environment and create better infrastructure facilities for young minds in the country,” LANXESS Thai Director Nanthawat Kerdchuen said.
The project is part of the LANXESS education initiative, which was established in 2008 based on the company’s belief that commitment to education is one of the key aspects of a sustainable corporate policy.
