The climate protection initiative CDP has honored LANXESS for its
- outstanding commitment to disclose initiatives and
- data on environmental action.
In its current assessment, CDP has given the specialty chemicals company the top grade of “A” in the “Climate” category. This puts LANXESS in the top 2 percent of the more than 24,700 companies evaluated by CDP.
The grade “A” is awarded to companies that report particularly transparently and comprehensively on their activities in climate protection and also implement corresponding projects. To do so, they must demonstrate their strategies and measures, such as setting scientifically sound targets and drawing up a climate protection plan. LANXESS has been disclosing climate protection-related data to CDP since 2012.
CDP: Maximum Transparency of Environmental Data
The independent non-profit organization CDP is dedicated to creating global transparency on greenhouse gas emissions and the management of water resources and forests. In 2025, more than 24,700 companies submitted their data, making the CDP data platform one of the world's most comprehensive sources of environmentally relevant information. CDP reporting now covers over 66 percent of the world's listed market capital, thus demonstrating that it has become a business norm.

Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index

LANXESS once again scores highly in terms of sustainability: In 2024 the specialty chemicals company ranked first in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index (formerly: Dow Jones Sustainability Index) in the “Chemicals” category with 79 out of 100 points. In the DJSI World, LANXESS achieved 4th place and scored particularly well in the areas of climate strategy, water, corporate ethics, human rights and product stewardship.

Science Based Targets initiative

LANXESS’ climate targets are in line with the Paris Climate Agreement. This has been approved by the renowned Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The joint initiative of climate protection organization CDP, UN Global Compact, World
Resources Institute and World Wide Fund for Nature has validated the Group’s targets for reducing its emissions and approved that LANXESS is helping to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5 degrees. This temperature is generally considered the threshold for preventing a climate catastrophe.

As a member, LANXESS was also recently assessed by the EcoVadis agency. We achieved a performance score of 80/100 in the current assessment in 2024 and have thus reached "Gold" status and placed in the top 5% of companies assessed.
EcoVadis, a leading global rating agency for sustainability assessments, conducts the assessments as a partner of Together for Sustainability.
In 2024, the award methodology changed from absolute scores to a comparison of company performances in the EcoVadis database over the past 12 months. The percentile rank is calculated across all companies and industries.
