LANXESS is presenting its extensive portfolio of aroma chemicals at SIMPPAR 2025. At the international exhibition of raw materials for perfumery, which is taking place on June 4 and 5 at Espace Champerret in Paris, the specialty chemicals company is showcasing a variety of high-purity, nature-identical aroma chemicals. The range includes floral and spicy fragrances as well as citrus, woody and earthy notes. Visitors can test a selection of these flavors and fragrances at the LANXESS stand A9. Furthermore, LANXESS will be showcasing various grades of benzyl benzoate for different applications.
Nature-identical aroma chemicals
The portfolio of high-purity, nature-identical aroma chemicals is divided into four classes: floral, earthy, spicy and fruity. Aroma chemicals provide the olfactory note that plays a central role in fine fragrances, personal care products, household cleaners, food and beverages, and animal feed.
The right benzyl benzoate for each application
Benzyl benzoate has a comparatively high molecular weight and is nearly odorless. These properties make the liquid the preferred fixative for applications in the flavors and fragrances, pharmaceuticals and textiles industries. LANXESS offers benzyl benzoate in various grades, enabling processors to choose the best option for their specific application. “Regular” meets the needs of industrial applications, “Performance” is ideal for standard odor profiles, and “Ultrapure” is suitable when an excellent odor profile and particularly high purity are required.
The Ultrapure grade is the benzyl benzoate of choice for products such as deodorants and candles, and is also an excellent solvent for fragrance substances such as artificial musk. Ultrapure benzyl benzoate takes olfactory performance, purity and sustainability to a new level. Since it is not necessary to mask the typical sweet, balsamic note, its use is cost-effective. With the “Ultrapure Scopeblue” variant, LANXESS has a particularly sustainable version in its portfolio. It contains at least 50% sustainable raw materials, has a reduced carbon footprint compared to conventional products and is certified according to the ISCC PLUS mass balance approach.
In addition, LANXESS also offers sustainably produced benzyl alcohol, which is used as an aromatic coalescent and solvent as well as preservative and fixative.
Sustainability increasingly in demand
LANXESS supports its customers in achieving their sustainability goals. For each of its aroma chemicals, the company offers a sustainable alternative based on renewable raw materials and regenerative energies. Paul Wanrooij, Head of Marketing Aroma Chemicals, says: “With our Scopeblue product variants, we can optimally serve the growing demand of the cosmetics and perfume industry for gentle, effective and environmentally friendly fragrances, aroma chemicals and preservatives.”
LANXESS uses the Scopeblue label to identify its own products that enable climate-friendly solutions. They are either based on more than 50 percent sustainable raw materials or have a CO2 footprint that is less than half that of the conventional product. They are classified according to the mass balance approach and are chemically identical to the standard product.
LANXESS is one of the world’s leading suppliers of high-purity, nature-identical aroma chemicals. From its strategically located production sites in the United States, Europe and India, the company supplies customers around the world. This unique and secure supply network makes it possible that products can be sourced locally almost anywhere in the world. In this regard, LANXESS maintains the highest standards of safety, quality, responsibility and sustainability.
