Additin® Corrosion Inhibitors

Applications

 

Tribological systems need to be protected against corrosion by appropriate additivation. The Additin® Corrosion Inhibition (CI) range includes ash-containing and ash-free products to inhibit corrosion. 

The Additin® CI range offers a number of desirable characteristics: 
  • Excellent corrosion inhibition
  • Demulsibility in hydraulic oils 
  • Antiwear performance in gear oils 
  • Water resistance in greases 
  • Detergency in engine oils

Certain acidic fumes, such as sulfur dioxide, are well known for their accelerating effect on corrosion. To neutralize their impact, Additin® CI products are recommended for all applications in highly aggressive environments. They are equipped with additional alkaline reserves to neutralize any fumes contributing to corrosion.

 

Creating hydrophobic metal surfaces

Corrosion inhibition additives in the Additin® CI range, such as synthetic calcium alkyl benzene sulfonates, are adsorbed on the polar metal surface to form a water-repellent and protective film, thereby effectively reducing corrosion.

Corrosion inhibitor packages for rust preventatives

Innovative corrosion inhibitor packages for the formulation of water-based and solvent-based rust preventatives for long-term temporary protection during outdoor storage and shipment.

Additin® RC 4955 – An innovative corrosion inhibitor package for the formulation of VOC-free, water-based, rust preventative for long-term temporary protection during outdoor storage and shipment. This product is in alignment with the latest trends towards sustainability, lessening the impact to human health and the environment.


Improved safety: No VOC release and reduced vapours, no flashpoint and  no hazard safety labelling of the finished product, and free of barium and other heavy metals.

Impressive performance: forms a thin hydrophobic soft film, shows superior wetting properties, offers the same level of salt fog protection compared to oil-based corrosion inhibitors, and it is easily removable by the use of standard water-based alkaline cleaners. 

Supports savings: because any good tap water would work in the formula (70%), lower transportation costs due to lower volumes as water is added at site, and less storage room needed. 


Additin® RC 4256 – A corrosion inhibitor package particularly designed for solvent-based rust preventatives and dewatering fluids for long term temporary protection during indoor or outdoor storage and shipment. 

Excellent performance: Perfectly soluble in hydrocarbon solvents, forms a thin hydrophobic soft film, shows excellent protection and performance in salt spray test and alternating condensation climate test, compatible with yellow metals, excellent water separation and metal wetting properties, and can be used in high moisture applications such as rust preventives associated with wet parts.
