Colored construction materials can play an important role in modern infrastructure projects. The advantages of colored asphalt for example goes beyond its aesthetic appeal, as this project shows: As part of a roadway renovation in a chain of tunnels in Germany, red colored asphalt was laid in both directional lanes. On the one hand, this was to increase road safety, as red is a signal color and drivers drive more attentively as a result. On the other, to achieve energy savings in lighting, as the red asphalt reflects the light better.

A total of 2,500 tons of asphalt were laid, which were colored with our red iron oxide pigments.
