Goodbye winter pounds – hello sports
Tips for outdoor sports in spring
Fresh air trains the immune system
Getting outside for half an hour three times a week strengthens your immune system. Because:
- Exercise in the fresh air stimulates the cardiovascular system and enhances the blood circulation. In addition, fresh air stimulates the production of mucous. In this way, the immune system's helper cells reach the parts of the body where they are needed more quickly. Pathogens are defended against. In addition, the oxygen makes us more energetic.
- Daylight builds up the vitamin D balance. The so-called sun hormone stimulates the immune system. Unlike other vitamins, the human body produces vitamin D by itself, with the help of UV radiation. This is why the brighter seasons are ideal for replenishing light which triggers vitamin D synthesis. Get into the habit of outdoor activities now to stay on the ball in winter. If the days get shorter again, your body can mobilize its own reserves of vitamin D if your daily intake falters temporarily.
- Variety for body and mind: The surroundings offer plenty of variety. Uneven forest ground or steep climbs mean more attention for the body, different muscle groups are mobilized and trained. The senses are sensitized by different impressions.
BUT: pushing yourself beyond your physical limits can result in pain and injury. Know your limit - overexertion can weaken the immune system. Therefore: be active moderately, regularly, safely and with pleasure!
Rely on your sports equipment
To prevent malfunctions and sports injuries, active people need the most reliable equipment. It should be state of the art, safe, lightweight, comfortable and support good sports performance. And here LANXESS comes into place.

Jogging or walking are the most popular sports not only since Corona. All you need are the right shoes. And you're ready to go. Good shoes can act like an auxiliary engine. A fibre composite in the outsole provides excellent energy return with low thickness. Depending on the material variant of the versatile composite material Tepex®, shoes weighing less than 200 grams are possible, which also provide good support and maximum flexibility.
By the way: running can support stress reduction. The latest studies show this. And if, on the way, you pick up the trash that was carelessly disposed of, you make the world a little bit better with every run.
Durable inline skates allow smooth riding and cut down on frequent roller changes. Almost all wheels are made of polyurethane. LANXESS produces this under the brand names Adiprene® and Vibrathane®. These materials offer skaters particularly high ride comfort and good grip. The rollers are abrasion-resistant, have low rolling resistance and are ideally suited to withstand loads such as jumping, braking and rapid changes of direction.

Many say golf is not a sport. Anyone who has tried it knows that's not true. Golfers spend a lot of time in the fresh air and, depending on the course, walk between 7-10 km during an 18-hole round. As a result, golf also helps relieve stress. Golf trains coordination, because the sport requires the most complex movements.
But not only the physical conditions have an influence on the success in golfing. How far a golf ball flies depends, among other things, on chemistry. The right balance of controllability and hardness that a golf ball is created by a smart mix of special plastics like Pocan®. A highly rigid, weather-resistant elastomer.

From health sports to fun sports
In addition to the classic sports, which pursue more of a health aspect, there are also the so-called fun sports. The latest trend: electric skateboards.
Not yet approved in Germany, but in great demand in the rest of Europe. E-skateboards are demanding to construct. They have to be light, but still stable, so that the user can handle it well. At the same time, there should still be room for the electric motor and the battery.
In the OKMOS SL-01 e-skateboard, our composite material Tepex® dynalite ensures the necessary rigidity of the board and is thus an important safety aspect. Because despite a wall thickness of only 3 mm, the board does not break.
Leisure fun without pests
Mosquitoes, biting flies and ticks can make a day in the country or a park very cloudy. Saltidin® from LANXESS has been a proven active ingredient in insect repellents for decades. It influences the insects' odor receptors so that they do not recognize humans as a source of blood. Products containing Saltidin® provide long-lasting protection against insect and tick bites and the diseases they may transmit, such as borreliosis, Lyme disease or tick-borne encephalitis (TBE).
When used as directed, they are
- suitable for the whole family including pregnant women and children,
- non-irritating and non-sensitizing to the skin, and
- do not feel sticky or greasy on the skin.
Insect repellents containing Saltidin® are available in various formulations including pump sprays, aerosols, gels, lotions or wet wipes. These products can be found in supermarkets, drugstores and pharmacies and the product label informs that Saltidin® is contained if it says Saltidin®, Icaridin or Picaridin.
Get out into the fresh air
No matter which sport you choose. The important thing is that it's fun and you're safe on the road. Stay sporty and healthy!
