Rely+On Virkon from LANXESS found to be effective in airborne room disinfection
- Rely+On Virkon proven highly effective against bacteria, yeast and viruses, via aerial disinfection method
- Disinfection is a key to help prevent transmission of infection
- Effectiveness of Rely+On Virkon proven at low concentration
With cases of COVID-19, influenza and other airborne respiratory infectious disease-causing pathogens continuing to cause significant concerns around the world, government health departments are providing advice and guidance on how to better prevent their transmission with hygiene and disinfection remaining of the utmost importance.
The broad spectrum disinfectant Rely+On Virkon from specialty chemicals company LANXESS is effective for use as an aerial disinfectant, when applied with suitable fog/misting equipment, capable of producing a fine mist. That means a particle size less than 5 micron. The disinfectant solution and equipment combination enable hard surface disinfection and decontamination in healthcare and institutional facilities, public health facilities, storage areas and transportation related applications.
Anneliese Bischof, Vice President of the Business Line CARE, Material Protection Products, LANXESS: “Practicing good hygiene must always be a part of our everyday routines, but the selection of a disinfectant proven to kill key pathogens is critical”.
Rely+On Virkon inactivates disease-causing pathogens at concentration rate of just 1g/m3
Independent testing conducted at a highly respected French University laboratory has proven that Rely+On Virkon inactivates pathogens within the scope of the method including adenovirus 5, murine norovirus (MNV), Acinetobacter baumanni & Staphylococcus aureus. A >4 log reduction (viruses), & >5 log reduction (bacteria, yeast), was achieved.
Rely+On Virkon achieved inactivation of all the specified test strains at just a 1g/m3 concentration rate, with a 60-minute contact time. This corresponds to test conditions set out by the EN method and proves the performance and suitability of the product for practical use in aerial disinfection applications.
Rely+On Virkon is diluted in water containing 10% monopropylene glycol, a combination which allows for enhanced levels of fogging performance when employed with suitable aerial fogging/misting equipment.
“Therefore, utilizing Rely+On Virkon as an aerial disinfectant for the purposes of infection control can help to disinfect inaccessible areas and reduce the risk of contamination of surfaces, walls, door handles, tables and chairs, particularly in circumstances where application of solutions by spraying or wiping techniques are considered impractical” Bischof concludes.
