Microorganisms, like bacteria, yeast and fungi, are omnipresent in our environment and pose a continuous threat to products made from soft PVC. In conjunction with humidity, organic compounds, such as plasticizers, offer ideal conditions for the growth of microorganisms. As a result, soft PVC products lose their mechanical properties and the microorganisms’ metabolites cause unsightly discolorations and sometimes unpleasant odors.
