There are several reasons why so many customers are satisfied using our Silvadur™ technology:
- Long-lasting freshness thanks to odor-inhibiting effect
Conserves resources: the odor-inhibiting effect of SilvadurTM means that clothing can be washed less frequently. Fewer washes result in longer-lasting clothing. - SilvadurTM is more resource-efficient than alternative products such as nanoparticles, salts or crystals thanks to its effective dosing system.
- Clothing treated with SilvadurTM is stable to light and heat.
- SilvadurTM is OEKO-Tex Label certified . It does not irritate or sensitize the skin.
- SilvadurTM is suitable for natural and synthetic fibers.
How does Silvadur work?
SilvadurTM is applied to the textile fibers during textile production, for example by exhaustion or spraying. The silver-polymer technology is evenly distributed over the garment and can withstand up to 40 washes at high temperatures.
KEY PERFROMANCE INDICATORS
UNIQUE DELIVERY SYSTEM
Silvadur™ uses a patented polymer technology to deliver silver ions via an “intelligent control” mechanism. When bacteria land on the surface of treated articles, the silver ion inactivate odor causing microorganisms, resulting in effective microbe-derived protection. Silvadur™ binds to bacterial DNA preventing replication, causing changes to the cellular membrane so it cannot function properly.
Silvadur™ technology is particle free and readily water-dilutable, forming phase stable and solids-free finishing bath solutions for easy and rapid processing of fabric when used appropriately. The product is dilutable in textile treatment baths and forms an insoluble interpenetrating polymer network with silver ions when applied to a fabric.
EASY TO USE
Silvadur™ offers light- and heat-stable application performance, durable antimicrobial protection for a wide range of textile products.
- Silvadur™ is effective on both natural and synthetic fabrics, is compatible with a broad range of common textile additives, detergents, and other finishing treatments.
- Fabrics treated with Silvadur™ require less heat and less time without extra binders or added steps during the application process.
- When applied to fabric surfaces and textile products, Silvadur™ does not impact their feel or aesthetic property of the treated article.
UNMATCHED ANTIMICROBIAL PROTECTION
Silvadur™ vs. Silver Nanotechnology
- Nanoparticle-based silver products rely on silver metal particles that don’t easily dissolve in water, providing a less uniform finish
Silvadur™ vs. Silver Chloride & Particle Based Systems
- Traditional silver-based antimicrobials deliver silver particles to the fabric surface & rely on silver particle leaching or slow dissolution of poorly-soluble silver salts to control bacteria.
- Silver particulate size and indiscriminate release of silver can cause discoloration & reduced antimicrobial performance over time, causing a non-uniform antimicrobial finish during the manufacturing process, leading to higher cost-to-treat & poor quality.
Silvadur™ vs. Quat Silanes
- Quat Silanes can be difficult to control, require careful dilution, formulation & processing conditions.
- Quat Silane treated fabrics can become water repellant, requiring more chemicals & costs to control hydrophobicity.

In the MILL
- Silvadur™ chemistry delivers a low concentration of silver ions bound in patented polymer technology.
- Silvadur™ delivers processing efficiencies: it disperses easily and homogenously on fabric surfaces with a high pick-up rate.
- Silvadur™ requires no to minimum heat and less application time without the addition of binders.
- Silvadur™ complies with US EPA PPE & EU BPR requirements: Recommended application dosages are below authority-accepted mill workers
exposure levels of concern. - Silvadur™ is recyclable when used during typical textile processing: Some of the silver ion may be retained in the process water and can BE
reused under certain considerations at the mill.
At HOME
- Silvadur™ odor and freshness protection lasts a minimum of 40 home launderings (at 30 ppm dosage).
- Silvadur™ protects fabrics from degradation and prolongs the life of the treated textile.
- Less frequent launderings save energy and water usage, time and money. Regular laundering practices do not degrade the polymer technology.
- Silvadur™ prevents bacterial growth even in cooler washing temperatures. Washing in cold water saves energy and reduces CO2 emissions.
- Silvadur™ is kind to humans and pets: Fabrics treated with Silvadur™ at the indicated levels have been found to be neither irritating nor
sensitizing, based on independent clinical studies using 5-6 times of actual dosage level.
In the ENVIROMENT
- Silvadur™ poses no environmental threat during laundering: While some Silvadur™ may be released during laundering, the silver ions are
converted into benign species which do not impact the environment. - Silvadur™ treated textiles pose no environmental threat once they reach the landfill. After the useful life of the treated textiles, any remaining
trace amounts of Silvadur™in the environment meet Biocidal Product Regulations established in Europe and US EPA.
Silvadur™ products are approved by the the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and do not contain any components listed by the State of California under the Prop 65 regulation.
Silvadur™'s active ingredient is also notified and supported under the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) and meet REACH requirements in the European Union.
Besides these approvals, Silvadur™ products hold several specific certifications granted after strict life cycle assessments, such as Bluesign® certification, OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Certification and Zero Discharge ZDHC Level 3 certification.
Silvadur™ has been assessed to be harmless and non-sensitizing to human skin. Third-party clinical evaluations found no evidence that SILVADUR™
either irritates or sensitizes human skin.
Silvadur™ uses less silver than other technologies, generating less waste without compromising performance.
Silvadur™ contained in textiles is also recyclable at the end of the textile's life and it is reusable during textile application process.
