European preservation under pressure
BPR (Biocidal Product Regulation) and CLP (Classification, Labeling and Packaging) are regulations evaluating the safe use of active substances and biocidal products for more than 10 years. This has led to new labelling limits and use limitations of the biocidal products.
This is mainly to protect humans and the environment but it also has a negative impact: An effective microbial protection becomes more difficult. Lately not only isothiazolinones have been set under pressure, but also the new labelling of zinc pyrithione as toxic for reproduction is further decreasing the preservation options.
LANXESS is carefully following the implementation of these new regulations and will provide customers with the necessary support to understand the consequences, and assistance in adjusting preservation strategies accordingly.
