Lights Out - a Sign against Climate Change
On Saturday, 25th March is Earth Hour - but for LANXESS it's every day!
That's because we have been switching off the lighting in the LANXESS Tower completely at night for many years. Saving energy and energy efficiency are of great importance to LANXESS. That's why the entire lighting system in the tower is equipped with highly efficient LED lights. Not only the lighting is sustainable, but also the heating and cooling, which is based on renewable energies.
What is Earth Hour about?
Earth Hour is the world's largest global climate and environmental protection campaign and a symbolic, peaceful protest initiative launched by the WWF. Every year on the last Saturday in March, all participants, i.e. cities, municipalities, private individuals or even companies, switch off the lights for one hour from 20:30 to 21:30. The initiative originated in Sydney in 2007, where it first encouraged people to turn out the lights during that hour. Earth Hour aims to provoke debate and thinking, and more importantly, to set an international example and encourage politicians and governments to take urgent action on the climate crisis. Earth Hour starts at 20:30 local time and travels around the world.
On 25 March 2023, the 17th Earth Hour will take place under the theme: Together for more climate protection. You too can contribute!
